Buckley and Almond Lead Randolph-Macon in a 114-44 Sweep of Hollins


ASHLAND, VA-- Lizzy Buckley and Sarah Almond led the Yellow Jackets with two wins each and R-MC Swimming touched first in every race for a 114-44 win over Hollins University Saturday in Ashland.

The 200 medley relay team of Caitlin Proctor (Fredericksburg, VA/James Monroe), Kellianne Mullin (Charlottesville, VA/ Western Albemarle), Virginia Mauch (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis), and Brianna Lovell (Newport News, VA/ Menchville) started the ODAC meet off with a first place finish in a time of 2:01.12.  

Buckley (Springfield, VA /Robert E. Lee) took two individual first place finishes in the 50 freestyle (26.30) and the 200 butterfly (2:26.57). Almond (Estes Park, CO/ Estes Park) also finished first in two individual events by first winning in the 200 IM (2:26.52) and then touched first in the 100 freestyle (58.22).

Randolph-Macon also took first place in the four other individual races Saturday at the Brock Center. Lara O'Brien (Sugar Land, TX /William P. Clements) won the 1000 freestyle (11:19.73). Lindsey Reid (Glen Allen, VA/Westminster Acad.) finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:14.72). Proctor touched first in the 200 backstroke (2:24.45), and Lovell capped the individual wins for the Yellow Jackets with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:55.07).

In exhibition races, R-MC's Mullin swam in the 200 breaststroke and touched first with a time of 2:36.92. The 200 freestyle relay team of Ellie Shea (Ashland, VA/ Northfield Mount Hermon), Buckley, Mauch, and Almond finished the meet with an exhibition win for the Yellow Jackets in a time of 1:50.79.

Randolph-Macon Swimming will be back in action Saturday, January 16th, when they host Bridgewater for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
