R-MC's Ariail Named Women's DIII News Player of the Year
BEAVERTON, Ore. — Randolph-Macon College senior Molly Ariail has been named the 2010 Women's DIII News Player of the Year, the publication announced today in its April issue.
Ariail led the Yellow Jackets to an 18-7 record. She topped the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in both scoring (19.4) and rebounding (11.4) and compiled 14 double-doubles this season. She also earned Player of the Year honors in the conference for the third straight season.
"If you look at her stats, Molly dominated both ends of the floor with her play and capped her career as one of the best to play in the South," said WDIIIN editor Gary Rubin. "There were many outstanding candidates for this award, but her performance all season long showed she is the most deserving."
Ariail headlines the 2010 WDIIIN All-American team, where she was joined on the first team by Julia Hirssig of Wisconsin Stout, Kimberly Blakney of Farmingdale State, Kean's Melissa Beyruti and Carrie Snikkers of Hope.
WDIIIN has named a Player of the Year every season since 1994.
